Adam Wartman

Mr. Wartman has been employed with the Â鶹Éçmadou School District for 18 years, including experience at all three levels – elementary, middle, and high school. For the past 11 years, he has worked at Chugiak High School, a small, suburban high school located approximately 20 miles from Â鶹Éçmadou. Chugiak is unique in that it is connected to the largest urban school district in the state, but due to its location away from Â鶹Éçmadou, it still maintains a small-town atmosphere. Chugiak is beautifully situated between the Chugach Mountains (to the east) and the Knik Arm (to the west), and between Eklutna (to the north) and Eagle River (to the south).

During his tenure at Chugiak High School, Mr. Wartman worked initially as a school counselor, including stints as a Freshman Counselor, and as a counselor with a regular “alpha group” of students in grades 9-12. In 2023, he joined the CCL Team (College, Career, and Life Ready) and now serves as the Academy Coach for Chugiak High School. Mr. Wartman has a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Emory University and a master’s degree in Counseling from the University of Alaska Â鶹Éçmadou. Prior to his employment with the Â鶹Éçmadou School District, Mr. Wartman worked as an Outdoor Adventure Therapist at a Therapeutic Wilderness Program for troubled youth. Mr. Wartman’s interests include the Backpacker Pizza at Moose’s Tooth, watching Office Space over and over on VHS, the short stories of John Cheever, discussing Game 6 of the 1986 World Series, Film Noir, hyping the use of jojoba oil for beard growing, and Miami Hurricanes football. But really, that Backpacker Pizza is very delicious.
