Step 4: Advising Appointments and Orientation

  • UAA Initial Appointment

After accepting the invitation, the student will receive an email with further instructions on making an appointment with a UAA advisor; see below:

    • Contact one of the UAA Middle College advisors by email to schedule an hour-long academic advising appointment.  A parent/guardian must also attend the first appointment.
      • Heather Brekke (hlbrekke@alaska.edu)

    • Please view . Students and their parents/guardians should view the induction information before the initial advising meeting.

    Email AMCS Counselor

Find your AMCS counselor's contact information.

After working with the UAA advisor to select and enroll in college courses, students must email the AMCS counselor to let them schedule high school courses. The email will notify the counselor to review your college schedule and assign mandatory advisory classes for math and writing.  Please note, that additional high school courses may be added for you to graduate on time or to meet full-time enrollment status.

    Attended Mandatory Orientation

Orientation is a multi-day event the week before college courses begin. All new students must attend this event. Orientation will introduce students to the program and will cover such areas as:

•Introduction to other students in your cohort

    •Campus Safety and TITLE IX

    •What is a syllabus?

    •Student Code of Conduct

    •Time Management
