    • or call our 24 hour absence line at 742-5360 option#1

when their child will not be attending school.   These options can also be used to report extended absences like family vacations.   Please follow the directions given before leaving your message. • Morning Attendance - collected at 8:00 a.m.
      • Students are considered absent in the morning if they arrive after 9:00 a.m.  (or miss more than one hour)
    •  Afternoon Attendance - collected @ 11:15 p.m.

    Make Up Work

    • Parent/Guardian is responsible for the content the child will be missing during an absence as it will not be retaught by the classroom teacher.
    • Assignments missed during the absence will not be collected or graded.
    • The assignments will be marked “excused from task” and will not be counted in his/her grade.
    • The student is responsible for math tests missed during the absence.   Math tests will be made up upon return to school.
    • The student is responsible for long-term projects and long-term assignments.   Due dates may be modified by the teacher.
    • Reading:  Students should read a minimum of 20 minutes per day.   Parents will provide reading materials at their child’s reading level.
    • Writing:  Students should keep a writing journal and write in it daily.  Parents will provide writing materials, prompts, etc.

    Make Up Work (for illness)

Students with absences due to illness should see their classroom teacher for missing work.  Students have one day of make-up for each day absence due to illness per ASD policy.

Thank you for making regular school attendance (attending school at least 95% of the time) a priority for your child.

Please refer to ASD's Elementary Student Handbook for more information.

Tardies

  • School begins at 8:00 a.m. (note new start time for 2024-25 school year) Tardiness disrupts instruction for the late student and the rest of the class.  Students who are not in their classroom ready to learn at 8:00 a.m. are considered tardy, per A.S.D.'s Elementary School Policy.

Please see ASD's Student Handbook for more information.

    Get to School on Time!

Early Pick Up

  • If you need to pick your child up before 2:30 p.m., please email your child’s teacher the day prior (or send a note) with the approximate time your child will be leaving.  This gives your child's teacher time to prepare for the early departure.

Parents must come to the office to sign their child out of school.   Once a parent is here,  the office staff will locate your child and call him/her to the office to go home.
