Alaska Resource Education nominated by Dimond High School, Cat Walker

Dimond High School and Alaska Resource Education (ARE) have a partnership spanning 15 years. This collaboration began with Beki Toussant’s involvement in educator training sessions and has since evolved to include classroom presentations, student participation in professional conferences and involvement in the Powerful Opportunities for Women in Resources (POWR) camp. ARE’s engaging training sessions cover a wide range of topics, from oil and gas exploration to renewable energy, fostering an awareness of sustainable resources and preparing students for Alaska’s job market. Notably ARE’s efforts extend beyond Dimond High, they are actively engaged with many schools throughout the district and support Romig Middle School’s career day, enriching hundreds of students’ educational experiences annually. The partnership’s longevity and impact on over a thousand students demonstrate its outstanding characteristics. By providing opportunities for student involvement in lesson design, conference participation, and advocacy fo’ ARE's mission. Students actively contribute to the partnership’s success while gaining valuable skills and insights into natural resources.

Starbucks Chanshtnu, Daniel Plumely, Store Manager nominated by Begich Middle School, Joyce Sperry SBP Coordinator

Begich Middles School’s partnership with Starbucks Chanshtnu began with Starbucks’ gracious coffee delivery upon their opening in 2021. Since then, Starbucks has been a steadfast supporter, providing coffee for staff training, student events and celebrations. Their contributions extend beyond mere sustenance, encompassing academic enrichment through impactful mock interviews. Starbucks employees came to the school, in their uniforms and held mock interviews with the 8^th grade careers class, resulting in unprecedented student engagement and enthusiasm (100% of the students participated). Moreover, Starbucks proudly exhibits student artwork in their store, fostering a sense of community pride and appreciation. Daniel and his team provide exemplary customer service and unwavering dedication, responsiveness, and willingness to go the extra mile for the school community. Starbucks’ innovative approach to reciprocal partnerships, exemplified by their acceptance of student artwork as a token of appreciation, has inspired the school to explore other avenues of giving back to our partners and the community.

CITC FAB LAB and Mackenzie Wright nominated by Campbell STEM Elementary School, Dr. Jenny Whitt, Principal

Over three years CITC FAB LAB and Campbell STEM Elementary School have forged a partnership focused on providing support in various capacities. The CITC FABLAB team has actively backed the school by introducing engaging activities that align with Campbell STEM initiatives. This collaboration has led to positive feedback from families and sparked enthusiastic participation from students. The partnership stands out for its emphasis on hands-on STEM learning, its connection to diverse cultures and communities, and its role in fostering students’ confidence and growth. The Campbell STEM community values the weekly support and investment into our school and students. CITC’s contributions are recognized through mentions in newsletters, sharing of photos on social media and join efforts in promoting student involvement in STEM activities.

Cameron Thorp, Video News Team

The Mirror Lake News Team provides daily school reports to their student body. The team is led by the producer, Cameron Thorp.  Cameron and the Video News Team produce captivating and interesting school announcements three times a week. The team has transformed routine updates into moments of inspiration and connection. Cameron’s leadership ensures that each episode is a testament to their collective talent and passion. Meghan Bundtzen, IB Spanish Educator, Inlet View Elementary School

Mrs. Bundtzen's commitment to creating a dynamic learning environment extends beyond the classroom. Through innovative methods like direct instruction and cultural activities, she enriches Inlet View students' educational experience while also engaging the community partners. Notably, she organizes events such as the community celebration of Hispanic Heritage, embodying the school's IB philosophy of fostering global citizenship. Mrs. Bundtzen's efforts have garnered recognition, including the receipt of grants and successful advocacy for educational tools like Duolingo for remote learning. Sylvia Dente, Grade 4 Educator, Inlet View Elementary School

Amber Myers, Romig Middle School nominated by Ben Walker

Amber has been instrumental in fostering a strong partnership between Romig Middle School and the Alaska World Affairs Council (AWAC). Through her dedication, she has facilitated opportunities for students to engage with international experts on global affairs, enhancing their understanding of global issues and cultures. By organizing field trips to AWAC events, she has enabled hundreds of students, including those from diverse backgrounds, to participate in these enriching experiences. These events not only provide valuable insights but also offer students the chance to practice professionalism in a real-world setting, preparing them for future endeavors. Furthermore, Amber's efforts have been recognized by the community, with her being named Â鶹Éçmadou Daily News Teacher of the Month in October 2023. Her strong relationship with AWAC has even led to venue changes to accommodate more Romig students, underscoring the impact of her work in creating opportunities for student growth and global awareness.

Project SEARCH, ACT Program with ARC of Â鶹Éçmadou, Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, Governor’s Council on Disabilities and Special Education and Providence Alaska

Project SEARCH, established in 1996 at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, provides employment and educational opportunities for individuals with disabilities. Â鶹Éçmadou joined this collaborative program in 2010, involving the Â鶹Éçmadou School District (ASD) ACT Program, Providence Alaska Medical Center, Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, Arc of Â鶹Éçmadou, and the Governor’s Council on Disabilities and Special Education. Interns gain work experience across various departments at Providence Alaska Medical Center, preparing them for community employment. The program boasts an impressive success rate, with an overall employment outcome of 85.9%. This business-led, workplace-based program aligns with ASD’s career academies, enhancing relevance and impact. Providence Alaska Medical Center generously provides support, including workspace and mentorship opportunities. The Division of Vocational Rehabilitation offers employment support, while ARC of Â鶹Éçmadou provides job coaches and case management services. The Governor’s Council on Disabilities and Special Education ensures program oversight and professional development funding. Providence benefits by potentially hiring interns, while the wider Â鶹Éçmadou community gains skilled young adults ready for employment.

The 11^th Airborne Division is a remarkable partner. Their steadfast support and engagement with our schools have left an indelible mark. The band serves as an artist sharing knowledge and providing curriculum support as well as sharing music with schools. Their presence has provided our youth with inspiring role models and memorable experiences. The 11^th Airborne Division Band shares the love of music with all our students.
